ETC 2019, day 2
2nd day of play has been completed in Birmingham.
First up today were the men’s team up against the Netherlands. Traditionally one of the consistantly present teams at the ETC. A win would take us into the top seeded position of the 1-8 draw. From the start the Danish men were in control and the match never looked in doubt, as we cruised through to a 4-0 win.
The ladies team were playing their final pool match agianst the Czech Rep and still had a chance to finish in second place. This would be a tough call as we also needed Italy to do well against the Polish team. Sarah Lauridsen came back from 2-0 downto win 3-2, and Klara Møller won a tough five setter. In the end despite our 2-1 victory over the Czech team, we lost out by just one individiual match.
The men’s quarter final match against Slovakia was a quick event, Slovakia looked resigned that it was going to be too much and we won through very quickly with two 3-0 wins from Kristian and Lau, meaning that Rasmus only needed 1 game to win the tie.
Tomorrow the women are playing to stay up in division 2 against Ireland and Ukraine, needing one victory to stay up. And the Men are against Finland to qualify for division 1.
Exciting day ahead.
